Another awesome weekend at Taste of Ashland has come to an end. We had a fabulous time, ate lots of yummy food and drank some lovely wine, beer and cider. This year we missed taking our fabulous group shot, so this one taken at the K&R in Rice Hill (enjoying a traditional Sunday afternoon Umpqua ice cream stop) will have to stand in.

Taste of Ashland 2012
Our annual trip south for Taste of Ashland was this weekend. I say annual, but it's really only the second annual one with my mom and sister. And with everything that can go on, who knows if we'll keep doing it. Anyway, this year one of my mom's friends came along. We had beautiful weather, good food, wine...It was so nice to just get away and be outside.
Heading home on Sunday we took our time and made a few stops along the way: Harry and David, Rogue Creamery, Lilliebelle Chocolates, the original Dutch Bros. on 6th Street in Grants Pass and the K & R Drive In at Rice Hill.
It was a great weekend.

Taste of Ashland
This weekend I made a quick trip south to Ashland for "A Taste of Ashland". It's an annual food and wine festival which is a lot of fun. In the past, I've gone with my friend Erin. This year, my mother and sister went with me. We had a great time. It was good to get out of town, enjoy some (finally!) sunny weather, and just hang out together.

Taste of Ashland

Erin and I spent the weekend in Ashland doing the walk, drink and eat thing. Ashland always seems to pick a great weekend. The weather was sunny, and just warm enough to be comfortable. We hit all 17 galleries and had some wonderful food. And I have to say, the wine wasn't bad. I really liked the Frizze and Pinot Gris from Cuckoo's Nest Cellars in Cave Junction, Oregon.
After nibbling all afternoon we had sushi for dinner at Kobe. That was followed by ice cream at Mix. And finally a trip to Dutch Bros. for Erin's coffee and my cinnamon cocoa. What can I say, we ate all day long.
On the trip home Sunday we stopped in Sutherlin for a bite of lunch at a place called Bronx Begals. It was yummy.

Ashland
I spent this weekend in Ashland. It's a fun little town to hang out in, and this weekend was their wine, food and art festival, Taste of Ashland. My friend Erin and I went last year and decided it was a great excuse to leave behind our lives in different cities and catch up. And I'm pleased to say that after a really lousy few days of crumby weather, this weekend was beautiful.
One of the best things about traveling (even if it's a short trip) is trying new things. This year we splurged and stayed at the Ashland Springs Hotel. It's nice, but I really like how it's right in the heart of town. After spending the afternoon nibbling our way around town, we took a little break and then walked less than a block to the Varsity and saw "Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day." I knew nothing about the film. I don't spend much time in movie theatres. That's Erin's thing, so I usually leave viewing choices to her. I can guarantee that she sees many more films that I do. Then, this morning we walked about a block up the hill and ate a restaurant we were introduced to yesterday, Dragonfly. For Taste of Ashland they had prepared an ahi sashimi salad with peppers, edemame, tomato, and I don't remember what else. It was really good. And I really enjoyed breakfast this morning.
