We spent Memorial Day Weekend at Newport. We walked on the beach, ate carmel corn in Old Town, had dinner at the Newport Cafe, and relaxed. It was pretty typical of our weekends at the Coast.
But the tall ships were in town. The Lady Washington and the Hawaiian Chieftain are replicas of 18th century ships. They are owned by the Grays Harbor Historical Seaport Authority, and each year they sail the Pacific Coast. The crews are all volunteer, and they spend anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks in each port. They were regular visitors to the Port of Brookings when I lived down there, but I never took the time to visit. It was fun to finally tour the ships.

Birthday Boy!
He turned 4 last week! We had a tractor party. His momma did a great job with the (cup)cakes and it was a great party.

Sick Kitter
I came home from Spring Break to find Kit very lethargic and definitely not acting like himself. My aunt said he hadn't eaten the day before I got home. When he refused food that night I knew we had a problem. He didn't even protest when I put him in his crate and off to the vet we went.
One exam later and we knew he was dehydrated and running a high temperature. A few hours later the diagnosis was a kidney infection. He was discharged late the next evening with three medications and a new diet. Since the meds had to be given three times a day, he spent about a week with Mom and Dad.
Happily, he is back to his normal, chatty, demanding self.

Spring Break
A few photos from our Spring Break at the Oregon Dunes. It's Spring in Oregon, so we had beautiful weather and then the stormy set in. It was good to hang out with family and friends.
